Volunteer: Share your voice, make an impact for communities affected by freight rail pollution.
Fast action meets goals to protect public health and the environment from toxic rail transport.
Alone, I can do little. Together, we can stop hazardous waste and advocate for safer regulations.
At Civics United for Railroad Environmental Solutions (CURES), our mission is to protect public health, environmental integrity, and community well-being by advocating for stronger oversight and responsible regulation of freight rail operations across the United States.
Every day, freight trains carry millions of tons of hazardous materials, industrial waste, and other environmentally harmful cargo through our cities, towns, and rural communities — often without sufficient public awareness, safety measures, or environmental accountability. These unregulated activities pose serious risks to the health and safety of residents, especially in economically disadvantaged and marginalized communities that are disproportionately burdened by environmental hazards.
CURES exists to amplify the voices of those affected, build coalitions of concerned citizens, and demand action from industry leaders, policymakers, and regulatory agencies. We believe that no community should be forced to endure the health, environmental, and quality of life consequences of unchecked freight operations.

CURES brings facts, action, and real solutions. They know how to get things done.
Thanks to CURES, we finally understand what’s happening with the freight rail in our area — and how to fight back.
